These Crafty Parents DIYed the Cutest Backyard Playhouse for Their Kids
Jamin and Ashley Mills, the Franklin, Tennessee, husband-and-wife design team behind The Handmade Home (and also two of Country Living‘s 100 Most Creative People) champion the notion of literally make-ing your house a home with easy, doable DIYs documented in books and on their blog. The latest labor of love? A storybook-esque two-story backyard hideaway complete with striped floors, screen doors, and the perfect rainy-day hammock. Take a peek inside their colorful playhouse cool enough for both kids and grownups.

Colorful craft supplies double as cheerful accessories on the shelves on the back wall.

Sherwin-Williams’ “Nurture Green” perks up interior of the playhouse.

A trapdoor in the second floor leads down to screened-in napping quarters. The colorful floors were a happy accident: “We spilled paint and decided to create a fun, striped finish instead of sanding them down.”
