The cub was found sedated and packed into a sealed plastic tub by inspectors using a sniffer dog.
The cub was mailed in the western state of Jalisco to an address in the central state of Queretaro.
Officials say the jungle cat was healthy overall, but dehydrated from the experience. Though the tiger’s ownership papers were in order, the shipping method was considered animal mistreatment.
The tiger was placed in the care of an animal rescue center.
The office for environment protection says the case is under investigation.
