A woman has been killed while taking a selfie with a friend on a train track in Thailand.
A friend said they had been drinking and decided «to take a photo with the train» but did not see an approaching train on the other track, police said.
The victim, named locally as 28-year-old Walailak Sukuma, had her leg severed and died later as a result of her injuries in hospital.
“[She] was proclaimed dead at a Bangkok hospital hours after an oncoming train hit her and her friend while the pair was taking a selfie,” police investigator Wissanusak Suebin told local media.
A man, who is believed to be a work colleague of the victim, was knocked unconscious by the train, suffering a head injury and a broken arm.
The number of people who die while taking selfies in dangerous locations is on the rise.
