Shocking video shows a brother and sister, aged just five and two, being rescued from a locked car, while their parents were at a political meeting.
Stunned passers-by alerted emergency services after hearing the children crying inside.
A firefighter was forced to smash the window in order to free the youngsters.
The young girl, five, and her two-year-old brother, were rescued in the city of Apodaca, in the Mexican state of Monterrey.
The children were reportedly taken to social services and the authorities are investigating the case.
Local media are reporting that parents are believed to have attended a nearby political meeting and left their children in the car with the windows closed.
It is not known if the children’s parents have been identified or punished for the incident, El Horizonte reports.
