Elon Musk has posted the official first photo of his SpaceX space suit on Instagram, teasing that more details will come in a few days.
Musk says the suit actually works, and was tested to double vacuum pressure. The suit itself is very white and very spacey, and Musk acknowledges that it was “incredibly hard” to balance the suit’s look and its function.
It’ll be worn by SpaceX crew when they blast off to the International Space Station and beyond.
SpaceX is a private space exploration company founded by Musk, who also founded Tesla. It’s launched a number of supply spacecraft to the International Space Station over the last several years and now has plans to send tourists around the moon, starting perhaps as soon as late 2018.
